I had promised you news from Milan and the “Salone del Mobile” but didn’t manage to attend this year. I was far too busy that week, what a pity!

Anyway…  I always keep my eyes wide open to Milan and now to the Expo 2015 ,*** and so I was reading about the UK pavilion for the event, which I believe will be awesome! It has been designed by a team led by Nottingham based sculptor and painter Wolfgang Buttress. The concept, entitled BE, comprises a “pulsating virtual hive that will highlight the plight of the honeybee” to offer visitors an “immersive sensory experience” creating a “lasting flavour of the British landscape”. Visitors enter the hive-like structure, which will “pulsate, buzz and glow according to signals from a real hive”, through an orchard and wildflower meadow.

***The Expo 2015  is the next scheduled Universal Exposition after Expo 2012, The Milan Expo will take place between May and October 2015 with the the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” and will showcase designs centred around sustainability, technology and food. The area that will be occupied by the Expo 2015 site is located northwest of Milan in the municipalities of Rho and Pero, and covers an area of 1.1 km2 (0.42 sq mi)!
