Last March I went to the London Design Week at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour and attended a lecture with Eva Keogan, who spoke to interior designers about how to “connect” with the community and promote our work. Eva is a renowned social and digital marketing specialist. She reminded us of the importance of being connected and most importantly: she did it in such a marvelous way!
Lunch time: I go straight to the Tatler restaurant that I had seen at the entrance of the DCCH and had fallen instantly for its vibrant atmosphere created by lots of pink and white that had been brought to the space. It was then that I had another nice surprise: I ordered this aubergine and pomegranate salad which, to be honest, I had ordered without much expectation and just because it sounded a low- calorie option, but……. what a fantastic taste! It was one of the best salads I had had in my life! (See recipe in the session “recipes”).
After lunch I joined other designers to hear Martyn Lawrence Bullard who spoke about the influence of his travels on his work, while we watched a slide show of many of his works, including houses he made for Sharon Osbourne, Cher and other personalities. What amazes me about his style is how he freely plays with different patterns and colours and makes the missmatches look at the end as if every individual item complemented all others perfectly! Martyn, as a person, is as brillant as his work. He’s very cool, funny and relaxed. We had a lovely chat about his dog Daisy and my dog Cara as he signed his book for me (bellow)..
Well, this is my news from London. Next time I will bring more from Milan and the “Salone del Mobile”, ciao ciao.
